Protecting beyond borders: keys to successful Amazon environmental governance.
Through a critical analysis of the effectiveness of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) and persistent transnational governance challenges, this study proposes paradiplomacy as a complementary mechanism for Amazon conservation. It examines the potential of subnational initiatives to overcome the limitations of traditional state-centered approaches.
